I Joined the SCA in the 2011 when I decided to look into what it was after meeting someone on a dating website. I was bored and had only a few friends who lived farther away. I wanted something to that wasn't sitting at home. I never could have imagined the world that waited for me. I spent 2 weeks getting ready for something I had no clue what it was or what I was really walking into. I took only a few steps inside the door when I was invited to sit with a group of people. One of them saying, "Don't worry, we don't bite." I remember thinking that if I'm going to do this I'm going all in. So I responded, "Okay, but I might!"

I was relieved when they laughed and told me that I met my people. They couldn't have been more right. A short time later I was introduced to Maestra Giovanna (Hadn't been elevated to Pelican at that point.) She was the groups Chatelaine at the time. She had me sit by her and explained court with a play by play as it happened. By the end of the night, I was hooked! I didn't know it then, But it was the start of a new chapter for me.

Over the following years I developed close friendships, learned more than school ever could have taught me, traveled, tried different foods, and found out that I could do and be more than I ever could have imagined! The SCA has changed my life and my experiences have led me to where I am today, even outside of the SCA.
